Art Description

Painting: Oil on Canvas.

-Oil on convexo round canvas, 12" in diameter. Wired on the back, ready to hang.

This painting has been displayed at Haoyun Erin Zhao's solo exhibition in San Francisco in 2016.

Erin is amazed by how poetic and therapeutic flowers and their colors can be. When she was a child, one of her favorite things was to sketch in her grandfather’s front yard where he planted flowers. She would spend a long time there just to observe the flower petals swing in the wind, and watch their colors vary in the changing light. Her love for observing flowers remains with her today now that she is a young woman.

Erin believes that the process of creating floral paintings is a form of meditation. Not only does she admire the beautiful flower blossom, she also appreciates the beauty of the blossom’s impermanence, its fleetingness, its transience. It’s her passion to capture the lovely and evanescent moments of a flower blossom and, in doing so, express her recognition of the impermanence of life. Erin believes that when we recognize such impermanence, we can better appreciate its gentle passing and more fully embrace its mysteries and beauty.
