ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Ticinese, the vibrant and diverse part of Centro Storico in Milan inspired this painting. I have a great love for Italy and have spent many summers in the north, but also exploring different cities. In Ticinese you can walk by the grittier areas with busy bars and grafitti and arrive by the church. This part is tranquil and offers a hidden gem in a walked garden. A beautiful bar in a park to spend some lovely time in. The sun, the warm colors, the vibrancy all meet in this painting.

Franck could inspire a painting as much as an Ibsen play, Aalto, Asplund, Bergman et all. My concerns are toward a tradition of making things in a necessary perspective, a highly Nordic expression through a tradition of hand making. My motivation is based on elevated high notes of fine art - but more importantly the base notes of craft, applied arts, design purpose built utilitarianism.
