ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Inspired by the environment I now live in, having recently moved to Vancouver Island in BC Canada from the UK. 'Tides That Bind', is full of layers, colour and texture, incorporating professional artist grade paints and mediums, finished with a UV protecting varnish. On the surface the subject matter is predominantly environmental, resulting in the creation of an abstract seascapes / landscapes full of narrative, meaning and deep connection. This painting has the sense / perception of the combination of places I have visited. There is a level of detail that persuades the viewer to revisit - discovering new secrets each time. This starts to reveal the true nature of the piece, how it is not necessarily a visual translation of a place but instead a feeling, an interpretation of energy and emotion of past, present and potential future. Framed in a composite wooden frame, the dimensions including the frame are: 21.25 x 17.25 x 1.5 inches

Marcus Jake is a Full-time working Abstract & Mixed Media Artist. Currently doing a 12 month residency in Greenwich UK Educated in Bristol UK, where he studied & received his BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art & Certificate in Higher Education in Photography. What initially appears to be two very separate and distinct bodies of work (Abstract Painting and Mixed Media Photography), are in fact profoundly connected and interlinked.
