Venizelos, as well by Vogiatzoglou Collection. Titania's intoxicating journeys Athens, January 2022 Louisa Karapidaki, art historian Vassilis Karakatsanis, visual-artist-turned-pilot of Air Titania, transports us to enchanting destinations around the world aboard his painterly choices. He chooses countries of which he has hands-on memories, activates his wealth of travel experiences and, guided by his recollections and the aesthetic of his matière, gifts us the joy of exploration. The artist transfers his locations onto the canvas with a clear layout and balanced renderings, handling a range of colours which depend on the thematic needs and particular features of the given work with great sensitivity With their singular descriptive virtuosity, his compositions eloquently portray a plethora of visual information with surrealist references, selected simplified abstractions, and above all a sense of reality--though without ever aiming at a photographic rendering. With his narrative writing free of nostalgia and the urge to beautify, Karakatsanis composes imaginary cityscapes with clear naturalistic elements into which he incorporates decorative devices typical of the folk art of the given country.
