"Trópico" is part of the Pindorama series. Pindorama means “land of the palm trees,” and was the name the indigenous Tupi-Guarani peoples gave to their land, before it was colonized. Today, we call that land… Brazil. This series is a call to origins, drenched in the desire to sink into a culture’s foundation. Each painting is born - mainly - from a Brazilian poem or song in which the artist finds her own identity, with the contrast of melodies, the force of drums, and the sweetness of lyrics unearthing the bold emotions that shape the individual work. Through the exaltation of nature’s own magniloquence, Pindorama highlights both an ancestral memory and its necessary correlation with our present. “It’s an ode to life and joy, and celebrates feelings that are deeply associated with my own roots, my land, my family, and the environment that defines an important piece of who I am,” says Julia. “Inspired by my homeland, it captures the warmth, vibrancy, rhythms, and movement of my Pindorama, and honors a culture that I love and carry with me no matter where I am. For you, it is an invitation to enter my universe through a symphony of colors that, if you allow, might reveal the sounds that inspired them.”

Hi and welcome! My name is Julia Martins Miranda, I'm an artist from the southeast of Brazil living between Italy and the United States. Presenting my series "PINDORAMA", which means "land of the palm trees". This was how the native indigenous Tupi-Guarani people called the land they lived in, centuries ago, now known as... Brazil. It was the first original name of Brazil. Inspired by my home country, the warmth, colors, and themes that I grew up with, this new series is a celebration of a culture that I love and carry with me while living in different parts of the world.
