This painting has a white background with subtle white drips. Continually scratching into the wet paint and adding more paint creates texture and shows the underlying black, red, and yellow lines that form these "tracks" which create a grid-like overall effect. Varnish has been applied to the finished painting to protect it from UV rays. Only professional paint and materials have been used. Wire on back, ready to hang.

BIO - Marta Utsler is an abstract painter. She was born in England and had moved to the United States aged 5. In 2010 she returned to the UK and lived in London for a time; then, discovering St. Ives, Cornwall as a renowned art community, she was based, and exhibited her work there, for 4 ½ years. Marta now lives and works in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland, England. At present, her work is exhibited in and around Edinburgh. Her work is in private collections all over the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and Ireland. ARTIST STATEMENT - As an abstract painter the medium I use is primarily acrylic. Because my procedures are unplanned I work intuitively to build up paint layers creating surface texture, altering and adding what is most essential to the development of the work. Through this editing process an application may be rejected because it might become unrelated to the whole of the piece, forcing me to probe new approaches to modify an existing idea. My marks have true purpose which translate into a unique form and ultimately the final interpretation. From there a tension may be created and I believe my work has a passionate yet quiet drama, at times intense while at other times sentimental, with an awareness of place and a sense of atmosphere. I continually push my limits, which transform me and allow me to evolve further.
