In this painting, I wanted to convey the unique atmosphere of the morning, when the city wakes up to a new day. During one of my trips to the Ukrainian city of Lviv, I had the opportunity to enjoy an early morning walk where I caught this story. Before you is an old street of Lviv, which seems to come alive on paper, filled with light and shadows. In the center of the composition is a woman walking down the street, holding a toy hare in her hands. This little bunny, a symbol of warmth and tenderness, adds a special, personal dimension to the scene, evokes nostalgia and reminds us of the importance of simple joys in life. Behind the woman we see a yellow tram — one of the symbols of Lviv. His image adds dynamics and rhythm to the picture, emphasizing the pulsation of city life. The tram not only transports passengers, it transports us to memories of other times, preserving the soul of the city. The foggy background, blurred buildings and electric wires stretching upwards make the composition even more mysterious and lyrical. My work is inspired by an impressionistic approach similar to the works of Camille Pissarro and Edward Hopper. I wanted to capture a moment that is both everyday and meaningful, to create a feeling of comfort and solitude, focusing on myself, even in the midst of a noisy city. The painting is intended to decorate your space and create an atmosphere of peace and reflection. It can become not only a decorative element, but also a source of inspiration for your daily moments.

Hello, I'm Olena, a passionate self-taught artist from Ukraine/ While my academic background is in pharmacy, my heart has always belonged to art. Since childhood, I've loved creating things with my hands, and this passion has only grown stronger over the years. My artistic journey took a profound turn at the beginning of the war in Ukraine. This challenging time inspired me to dive deeper into my work, using art to explore the complexities of human nature and evoke moments of life awareness. My paintings delve into themes of the subconscious, the journey of the soul, free will, and the collective consciousness, often drawing from my own transformative experiences. I'm fascinated by psychology, Vedic astrology, religion, and philosophy, which significantly influence my art. I continuously refine my technique to convey these ideas skillfully. I primarily work with watercolors, acrylics, and collage, with a particular love for watercolors. The unpredictable nature of watercolor has become a delightful part of my creative process, akin to a dance, where each stroke brings energy and melody to my paintings. Over the past two years, I've participated in over 20 exhibitions, including international events like the plein air in Gdansk, Poland, and received recognition as a winner of the AMERICAN ART AWARDS 2022. I was also the curator and organizer of Ukraine’s first all-Ukrainian watercolor exhibition, focusing on personal boundaries and promoting watercolor art in my country. My works are part of the Meta Museum of War collection in Kyiv and various private collections across Canada, Ukraine, Poland, Spain, Netherlands and the USA. I invite you to explore my art and discover the stories behind each piece. Thank you for visiting my store. Warm regards, Olena Koliesnik
