Transcendence Painting

“Transcendence” is an abstract urban cityscape painting by contemporary artist Teale Hatheway. It’s composition is a balance of dragon-like creatures in dark and light, swirling through water and fog, encircling a golden globe. Each element has been distilled from various street light designs. Teale chose the subject of lamp posts as way to share a sense of optimistic interconnectedness with the world around her through the expression of beauty, history and public spaces. This pop-art styled artwork is composed entirely of fragmented, visual elements of assorted city street lights utilizing hand cut stencils made from drawings, aerosol paint and metal leaf on translucent acrylic sheet. The mixed media painting can be displayed individually or in clusters and can be mounted against a wall, hung away from a wall, suspended from a ceiling or hung horizontally.
