For the past 45 years, Andrew Hart Adler has been showing his work on both sides of the Atlantic in the US, Europe and Africa, where he has established his studio in Cape Town. He is a New Yorker by birth, but grew up in London. He was assistant to Willem de Kooning from 1973-75, before moving to Paris and beyond. His travels, interests in different cultures, philosophy, his genetic ties to theater and music, have combined for his imagery. Last year, the pandemic opened up a whole other realm for him as he sought to find a way to deal with the encroaching fog of time and a lack of future. He found landscapes with horizons and divine light!
