Whitney McVeigh was born in NewYork (1968) and lives and works in London. She was nominated for the Sovereign European Art Prize in 2008 by Saatchi Gallery director, Rebecca Wilson and has exhibited and lectured internationally including solo exhibitions at Summerhall Arts Centre in Edinburgh (2015-16), Kettle’sYard, Cambridge (2015) and presentation of film ‘Birth’:Origins at the End of Life at the Royal Academy of Arts, London (2015). Recent participations to group exhibitions include moving image for Extinction Marathon at the Serpentine Gallery (2014) and Glass Stress,White Light/ White Heat at the 55th Venice Biennale (2013). In 2009 she worked in video in Syria to create ‘Sight of Memory’ shown at ICASTICA Biennale, Arezzo (2013) and at MOMO Gallery, South Africa (2016). She was featured in the BBC4 television documentary,Where is Modern Art Now (2009) alongside Sir Anthony Caro, Michael Landy, Grayson Perry and Cornelia Parker presented by Gus Casely-Hayford.
