It is not intended to represent the beautiful. It has to provoke a reaction. Pushing the visual experience to its limits is what often leeds a person to reconsider his conception of reality. I loved playing with perspective to create this large abstract expressionist piece. Why “Trapped”? Because we are often Trapped by our own thoughts, imprisoned by our fears. We are not afraid because we are weak, we are scared because we are powerful beyond measure. So, until we start believing in ourselves, we will keep on being “Trapped”… ------- “La vraie création ne prend pas souci d’être ou de n’être pas de l’art. Je croirais même bien qu’elle se trouve viciée dès que le mot d’art est à son sujet prononcé. La créativité est un redoutable instrument d’expression. Elle n’a pas vocation à représenter le beau. Elle se doit de faire réagir et de parfois même choquer. C’est en poussant l’être dans ses retranchements, que l’on le pousse à reconsidérer sa conception de la réalité. J’ai adoré joué avec la perspective et les proportions sur cette grande toile d’expressionnisme abstrait. Pourquoi « Piégés » ? Parce que nous sommes souvent pris au piège de nos propres pensées, emprisonnés par nos peurs. Nous n’avons pas peur parce que nous sommes faibles ; nous avons peur parce que nous sommes puissants au-delà de toute mesure. Et tant que nous n’avons pas assez confiance en nous, nous continuerons à être « Piégés ».
