Painting: Sumi Ink, Charcoal on Wood.
My focus and inspiration over the last 10 years as an artist has been on plants, weeds, flowers, roots and grasses, with a particular emphasis on botanical imagery past their prime.
Over the last six years I have been using Sumi ink and vellum, or Mylar on panel to create ghost or silhouette images of plants. All of my pieces are hand painted, or as I like to say, drawn with a brush. Using sandpaper and other removal methods the finished piece is then mounted on a birch panel with archival paste and varnish.
Major influences throughout my art career have been Robert Motherwell, Franz Kline and Jim Dine
