Thank you for reviewing my online portfolio. I have been drawing and painting, and photographing for as long as I can remember, continuing my journey of the challenges and emotions an artist encounters through the voyage of each piece. I have painted for a number of years now, and feel blessed to have brightened the walls of a growing client base, and would love to assist you with matching a colorful piece of artwork with your home or office decor. I have two developing styles of work...a more organic side, where i really am getting a workout flinging paint on the canvas in a number of ways. I combine contemporary colors with several layers of paint which flow over the entire surface of the painting, and don't stop until the work looks like it wants me to stop. Recently, I have been creating more a defined expressionist/graffiti look. I utilize varying widths of line, and shapes, and combine them over unique backgrounds to allow for that element of surprise upon completion. Feeling fantastic after fulfilling a 20 year promise to myself to enter an art fair...the Gold Coast Art Fair in Chicago, Illinois in June of this year! I learned an incredible amount from both the fair-goers, and some great artists who were willing to share their experience and advice. I appreciate everyone who came out to show their support, or give me a thumbs up, and to the awesome art collectors who honored me with a purchase...I am always humbled when someone is interested in placing one of my efforts in their home or office. Thank you again for your consideration of my efforts, and for supporting independent artists in general. Saatchi Online is a great forum for an incredible range of talented artists, and your support is very much appreciated. My art is inspired by many sources throughout my life. My grandfather was the first to put a pencil in my hand and show me how to draw a pirate's face (based on those amusing 'learn to be an artist' advertisements suggesting one to copy the drawing to gauge your abilities). From a fine art perspective, my influences have included the work of Picasso, Van Gogh, Degas, Matisse and Cezanne. More recent influences have been Warhol, Pollock, Hopper, Nagel and Mukai. I am a 1985 graduate of Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, where I am proud to say I was the sole Fine Art major from my class. Please feel free to critique my work and tell me how I'm doing.
