True Poem II Painting

Hello and thank you for stopping by! I am a full-time visual artist, originally from Greece, currently living and working in Southern Connecticut, USA. I have been fascinated by art and design since my childhood, while I learned how to express myself with colors and forms before I did with words, so painting and drawing have really been a natural extension of my hands. Following a 10-year period of working on construction and interior design projects as an engineer and being driven by the need to feel free, I redirected my talents to pursue art, textile design and fashion at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and Parsons School of Design in NYC. After graduation, I interned and worked for established NYC brands including Michael Kors, Christian Cota and Children’s Clothing Companies, where I gained extensive experience in textile design, hand- screen printing techniques, block-printing, illustrations, technical drawing,and mill-work. A couple of years ago, I set up my painting studio in a never ending wonderland of lush green forests… My paintings consist of mostly semi-abstract and abstract intuitive work on canvas or wood that stem from a visual record of my emotions, allowing for numerous interpretations. My intention is to transform a static environment into a space which is alive with interest and originality. I always paint what I feel, not what I see. Every piece I am working on, no matter how big or small documents my personal journey and life experiences. I am constantly seeking inspiration for my work; Surprising color combinations, nature patterns, intricate shapes, travelling always fuel my creativity. My approach is both pragmatic and conceptual. My aesthetic tends to be sophisticated and narrative. I am forever learning and trying new techniques, mediums and subjects.
