TURBULENCE ON 8/9/2019 Painting

This painting reflects my continuing interest in waves. It started with an interest in the electro-magnetic spectrum of energy waves, light waves etc, and it continued with a recognition that waves can be metaphors for other aspects of our lives, emotion for instance. The dominant color here is Payne's Grey, named after an English water colorist. It's a blue color, so why the word 'grey' I don't know. It's a subtle blue which is becoming one of my favorite colors. The painting is a bit like a palimpsest, as you can see previous layers of work through the surface. On my TV screen this painting looks green and there are green hints on the canvas. Blue and green are difficult colors for cameras, screens and human eyes.
