ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Growing up in Canada you are always surrounded by natural beauty. From a young age my mother (who is a trained artist) encouraged me to look at the world in light, color and form rather than in subject matter. With this painting of the Black Tusk in Whistler, BC, I wanted to contrast the fractured bold angles of the Tusk next to the milky soft pastels of the snow billowing around it. As a contemporary landscape artist I want to challenge the viewer to see a view for its form and color rather than for what it literally is.
