About The Artwork
I painted this little piece when I was back in Scotland at the end of 2021, it was inspired by the countryside on our long drive to the very north part of Scotland, the undulating landscape, the fields and the rich colors of fall as well as the wildlife seen on the way. I have worked with acrylic paint and oil pastels on heavy mixed media paper, and have worked partly in a sgraffito style in certain areas. I usually work on canvas but travelling overseas makes it difficult, so I worked on paper whilst I was there. "Twa' Craws" is of course, Scots language for two crows! This piece comes ready to frame in a standard 12" x 12" frame, matted in an arctic white 12" x 12" mat.

My work is about connection across distance, this is portrayed in my paintings as vast open spaces, with little interruption, like a clearing between these different planes. This space relates to the distance of time as well as the physical distance. I strive to create an atmosphere of calmness and serenity in my work, I’d like to think that people could dive into my paintings and lose them selves there for a while. Inspirations include Joan Eardley, Mark Rothko and Friedensreich Hundertwasser. My figurative work is mainly academic, line, shape, tone, as well as being a meditative practice where I can lose myself. Inspirations include Gustav Klimt and Egon Scheile.
