Art Description

Painting: Oil, Enamel on Canvas.

The painting began with shapes, color tones, and layers that occupied a section of the canvas. A vertical line followed a horizon line, and then greens and earthen hues filled in the lower lection. More structured brush marks are juxtaposed against expressive application. The painting began to have a duality in its imagery. My great interest in cinema found its way into the split composition. I am not attempting to make the two sides appear realistic, but I am concerned with the emotional effect for the viewer. The way the visual elements react to one another and can create change/transformation is key to my intention.
