Typhoon Lekima Painting

In this series, instead of conventional brushes, I use my fingers which allow me to feel the texture of the paint and surface tension in order to produce a sense of motion through swirling patterns on the canvas. The visual appeal of radar imagery illustrates the beauty in destruction. Typhoon Lekima, which hit in 2019, was the costliest typhoon in Chinese history with 71 dead and nearly 10 billion dollars of damage. Typhoons are tropical cyclones that develop in the northwestern Pacific Ocean as opposed to Hurricanes which develop in the Atlantic and eastern Pacific.
