BIOGRAPHY & RELEVANT EDUCATION Christian Autzen, born in 1970 in Heidelberg, Germany, is a contemporary artist who lives and works in Hamburg, Germany. Christian Autzen experienced many artistic influences both at home and through art classes, museums and exhibitions. In 1996 he graduated with a diploma in graphic design from the Kunstschule Alsterdamm / School of Visual Arts, Hamburg, among others in the class of Lothar Walter. He then embarked on a long career in the creative industries, including publishing houses and agencies. Then, at the end of 2021, Christian Autzen abruptly stopped working in the office. Since then, Christian Autzen has devoted himself exclusively to painting – especially large-format portrait works. His work is characterised by a figurative and expressive visual language and a strong conceptual basis. Christian Autzen is best known for his acrylic paintings and portraits, in which he deals primarily with themes of contemporary pop culture. Recurring concepts in his work are close-up portraits and a continuous search for the iconic, eye-catching moment in his paintings. Christian Autzen has been on the art market since 2023 and has had solo and group exhibitions in New York, Paris and Berlin. ARTIST’S STATEMENT "My artwork deals with the icons of our culture and I want to reflect the memory of all these great personalities – in a private and up-close moment, away from the look of the styled glamour world."
