About The Artwork

“Ultima Tariffa”, the seventh painting in the series called “Serie di Venezia” which features interesting scenes I encountered in my travels to Venice Italy. As I was heading out for my nightly wanderings, I turned a random corner and saw this last line heading off into the sunset. This is my absolute favorite painting, not only of the Series, but of all time. It is for sale, but I REALLY do not want it to go, so it’s priced accordingly. The piece is painted on a custom built and stretched canvas frame which I made specifically for this painting, it is complete and ready to hang. Painting Details: -Custom canvas stretcher prepared with 3 coats of Blick Professional Gesso and an additional original painting “under coat” -Brushes; Grumbacher Bristle Flat #2, #3, #4, Round #1, Winsor & Newton Bristle Filbert #2, Princeton Bristle Flat #2, #3, Davinci Kolnsky Flat #2 and Escoda Clasico Chungking White Flat #6 #8 -Paint; Winsor & Newton Artist Colour, Gamblin Artist Oil, Old Holland Oil Colors, Blockx Oil Colors and Sennelier Artist Oil. 22 different base colors mixed to hue and varying thickness. Liquin and Colbalt dryer agents used to thin paint and speed-up “drying” time - Final painting was sealed using 2 coats of Gamvar High Gloss after four (4) month “drying” time Custom Frame Details: Shadow Box style frame made of Red Oak by the Artist exclusively for this painting in 2020. - Frame dimensions are 40x26x2.6” - Shadow width ¼” from canvas to frame and the frame edge width is 3/4” wide - Frame is Stained and Varnished with 2 coats of Dark Ebony Satin finish - 100lb. rated picture cable through stainless steel eye-hooks is used to hang the entire piece. (16lbs. total weight for canvas and frame) As always, I welcome the opportunity to discuss making a similar Original Commissioned Piece (it will NOT be a copy, but shall have the same feel as the original). All Commissioned Painting requests are welcomed.

John is a Professional Photographer and traditionally trained Illustrator who is based out of Los Angeles, CA (aka Hollywood). Having been trained in all aspects of Film Photography in the 90's, where he won the "Most Outstanding Photographer" award his last year at University, he has never really wandered too far away from his film roots and his style and knowledge reflect that education. Currently, he shoots Images for TV shows and Movies where his work is seen around the world and featured in numerous Ad Campaigns. Apart from his "daily Hollywood" work, he considers his "Street Photography" imagery to be his true passion when it comes to his own "pure Photography." ---- With a background in Architecture/Design and Illustration, part of John's Education was in Oil Painting, a medium he instantly fell in love with at University. He has had a couple of start and stops over the years, but is now back in the "studio" whenever he can carve-out the time. John jokingly describes his Oil Paintings as, "Cheaper than going to therapy", and has been re-mused, painting with the passion he had when he first discovered the world of painting. His style has been described and "heavily Impressionistic" and it is something he takes great pride and joy in hearing. Ever challenging himself, John has always been attracted to the Pen & Ink Watercolor style of urban sketching and has now also added that Meduim to his arsenal of Art. "Watercolor is a fascinating medium to work with, it's alive and loves to do its own thing, many, many mysteries." he comments. Welcome to John's Saatchi Page and enjoy exploring.
