Art Description

Painting: Marker on Canvas.

Todd Monaghan was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1964 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He painted his first flag, American Beauty, as a commission for his brother in the year 2000. When 911 happened in New York City Monaghan was working in the North Tower as a legal assistant for a law firm head quartered in the building. Monaghan revisited the piece and called it American Beauty 911. That piece was purchased by Emory University and dedicated to its victims of the tragic event. Monaghan revisited flags from time to time since then. When is youngest son started attending the British International School of New York he decided to paint a British Flag and gave it to the school in his honor. This piece is an embellished print of that original piece.
