About The Artwork

Єдність" - this is translated as unity. The painting is dedicated to the Ukrainian people. It has my friends on it. I wanted to show unity through friendship, because of the way the Ukrainian people rallied, how much they helped each other... Sunflower - as a symbol of the Ukrainian people. And while we are together, more sunflowers will sprout out of the scorched earth. Are these girls scared? - I don't think so. - What do they feel? - I think that these three people convey different emotional states of the people who are in Ukraine currently. The help and care of the girl from above, who envelops and supports, the horror of the girl in the center, looking at what happened earlier... And the drowning sadness of the girl below ... I never heard the phrase: "I gave up" during the entire war - but I heard many times about the absorbing feeling that drags you deeper into the earth. War is growing in you. All these people are experiencing a hurricane of emotions. They won't die as long as they hold on to each other - they will continue to grow out of the scorched earth.

My name is Elzhana, I was born in the south of Ukraine in the magical city of Odessa. This city is my home, my friend and my family. Red cats walk there, it smells of warm dust and chicken cubes. Here I began my path as an artist, graduated from the Grekov Art School, immersed myself in the art painting and continued my journey. I had been studying for 8 years already when I moved to Kyiv and entered the Academy of Arts, but I still could not call myself an artist. This was my personal tragedy. I learned from incredible people how to pain in different styles, in different genres... but I couldn't “create”. At some point, I moved to the faculty of formal painting, with this phrase in my head: "If I create at least one good painting in this life, I will find happiness" And 3 months later I painted my first artwork. My own painting..
