I am a Painter from East London. I studied a Foundation Degree at Camberwell, University of the Arts, London before a BA in Fine Art from the University of Lancaster. Post-university I took up various jobs and internships whilst saving to travel the world. It has been difficult to balance working life and artistic endeavour so I recently decided to quit my job and dedicate myself solely to pursuing my artistic ambitions. I have created a shed studio space in my garden in which I paint. My work captures the reactions of mixed oil paint and white spirit on acetate. By physically manipulating each painting with my hands the end result represents a material reality. The individual journey of each piece is documented. Oils morph and adopt different forms so the final piece is often unrecognisable. Something I find beautiful in the beginning is often wholly changed by the end. In short, I paint because it is my passion. I get lost in my method and continuously push my own boundaries. With each aspect of a painting: size, colour, method my technique is radically altered and this is the challenge I engross myself in and my own reward. I challenge traditional mediums with new concepts. Rather than using paintbrushes, I harness gravity and rely on chemical reactions. For the viewer or consumer of my work I believe that there is a fascinating story for every individual and their story can be interpreted through colour. I don't use popular or complementary colours but let my mind decide what shades and tones will best convey what I have in mind.
