Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Enamel, Spray Paint on Wood, Bronze, Steel.

'Untitled(Climate elements)’ was made in 2018 in Mexico and is part of an ongoing series of ‘Level Paintings’ which I have been developing over the past five years.
Using the language of minimalism and its associated economy of form and material, I create these simple yet complex, colourful abstract paintings from industrial materials. I work with plywood panels and enamel acrylic spray paints. The panels are inlayed with colored bronze rods and then mounted in fabricated steel frames.

I use standard, industrial spray paints. I chose to work with a limited palette, using a commercial range of colors that create a striking, glossy finish. I like that people can buy these paints over the counter. I also like that this accessible range of colors is familiar and forms part of the day to day urban experience.
'Untitled(Climate elements)’ was exhibited in the curated group show ‘Micro Cosmo’ exhibition at Interseccion Arte Contemporaneo, Mexico in 2018.
