Art Description

Painting: Enamel, Acrylic, Spray Paint on Wood, Bronze, Steel.

'Untitled #Fire element’ is part of an ongoing series of ‘Level Paintings’ which I have been developing over the past five years.
Using the language of minimalism and its associated economy of form and material, I create these simple yet complex, colourful abstract paintings from industrial materials. I work with plywood panels and enamel acrylic spray paints. The panels are inlayed with colored bronze rods and then mounted in fabricated steel frames.

I use standard, industrial spray paints. I chose to work with a limited palette, using a commercial range of colors that create a striking, glossy finish. I like that people can buy these paints over the counter. I also like that this accessible range of colors is familiar and forms part of the day to day urban experience.

‘Untitled #Fire element’ was made in 2018 and was shown in the ‘Micro Cosmo’ group exhibition at Interseccion Arte Contemporaneo, in Mexico.
