About The Artwork

acrylic, tempera, oil on canvas, 36 x 90 cm this painting is: painted on two canvases size of 18 x 90 cm, stretched on a wooden frame, signed on the backside, hanging: about 1 cm- distance between two canvases would be fine People say a picture resembles a window, through which you look a world created by an artist. I have a feeling that the distance between a viewer and a work of art is too large in this conception. I want the mind of a viewer to step into my picture and move freely between the colours or follow the lines. I have painted sides of this picture so that this painting can share the room with you as a three-dimensional existence, not as a two-dimensional window, when it is hanging in front of you. This time, I painted on two canvases of the same sizes. This underlines that both parts (world) are equivalent. The background colours of two canvases are different but connected by shapes and lines. If a painted canvas were a world, where is your mind staying? Right now?

Indefinable forms on my paintings are “potential” like the first stroke of a line at a beginning of a drawing. People reveal themselves in amazing way by wondering what this form might be. Some visitors of my exhibition saw fish in my paintings – their minds could swim in my paintings. Some saw birds in my paintings – their minds could fly in my paintings. Others recalled their playing in their childhood. What a beautiful feeling that these visitors have made me feel! A work of art will be completed by a relationship that an audience creates with it. Many questions do not have an easy answer. Only the answer that you find is the right one for you. I keep asking myself the questions. People say a painting resembles a window; you watch a world through it. What do you see when a painting has been painted on several canvases? What divides a world or connects worlds? I want to provide a space, where you can find something valuable in yourself. Graphic elements such as colours and lines will guide you and give impulse and energy.
