ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A mixed media series using wool. The process of "braking" the canvas with a massive needle and then sewing it together reflects the destroy vs mend, wounded vs stitched together, the process of damaging and repairing. Piece is open for collectors interference - the hanging wool strings can be cut. Canvas dimensions 90x90cm + the wool strings ca. 30-40cm

My Art is a result of constant aesthetic search I went through - starting with my great fascination for Art History which has become the subject of my University Studies, later evolving into a deeper look into the history of artistic jewelry, which resulted in my Masters Degree dissertation being devoted to the work of Louis Comfort Tiffany and the jewelry design of Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. I have begun doctoral studies dedicated to the history of polish artistic jewelry. Later in life I took a direction of interior design and decoration, running a furniture and design studio in Warsaw. With my two children born, I decided to become a stay-at-home mom for a period of time. Whilst at home, I’ve taken up the art of cake decoration (yes! a job of „cake designer” exists !) which has been a creative retreat for quite a while. There again appeared my fascination with colors and textures, this time expressed in buttercream creations. Finally I have returned to my roots - being Art. MA in Art History has given me a perspective and wide background of what has been and what Art is today. I search for colors, textures and their combinations, analyze the process of creation - from the moment of fear and respect for an empty canvas, through disappointment embellished with hard work and ongoing adjustments into a flourishing new art piece that reflects my inner self. Sometimes chaotic, other times elegant and soothing, my works are dressed mostly in an abstract concept - which in my opinion - broadens the possibilities of interpretation, thus appeal to ones subjective perception in the best imaginable way. As a trained art critic I prefer to offer my audience an infinite number of interpretations. My works can be found in private collections in Poland, Germany, Canada, USA, Switzerland, Belgium, United Kingdom. I have exhibited both nationally as well as in Madrid, New York and Salzburg.
