ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The flow of the body movement is one with the brushstroke and is abstract by nature. Years of meditation and contemplation had made the inner movement accessible to me and the brushstrokes are one with the sensation and its change. Painted both with intense and with diluted acrylic on paper. It is a meditative and calming minimalistic painting. the painting needs to be framed.

Artist statement My art deals with movement and change. I paint abstract Zen paintings, the awareness is to the present moment and to change as it occurs. I express what I perceive as occurring within at the present moment at the mind-body level. The paintings are abstract, they express the energy that passes within the body at a deeper level than the level of words and images. I paint flow, intense energy, turmoil, opening, expansion, depths, collision, clarity, mist, the search for a new path... and any sensation I perceive at present. The canvases might contain opposing forces and layers of very different expressions. Some paintings are minimalistic. As I paint mostly on the floor I approach the painting from all directions. The paintings can be seen and hung from whichever direction you love it best. About myself - Painting is part of my life both as an expressive channel and as part of my process of awareness, Buddhism being my main source of inspiration. I have lived in South-East Asia for five years. I began by travelling, and was soon attracted to Eastern philosophy, which drew me to study Buddhist Meditation and Yoga in various monasteries. Exposure to Eastern thought as well as Jungian psychology developed within me the urge to explore and express change and the inner levels of the self.
