Painting: Plastic on Other.
What concerns my work are the relationships that emerge on the painting surface during the process. Presence - absence, gesture - non gesture, fulness and void, noise and silence, rhythm, value, perspective, vertical and horizontal lines, paint and surface, black and white.
The painting consists of a series of black strokes on a white melamine ground. The black paint has been scraped on and then off with a hard flat tool, such as a palette knife, to create layers that are more or less thick, and reveal white surface.
My intention is to produce a visual experience that presents an intuitive and spontaneous inner imagery that is able to create a physical engagement with the viewer.
Each of these paintings can be perceived either as a complete, autonomous composition or as a part of a potentally larger piece that cannot be seen and is yet to be created.
I have no interest in adding any hidden meanings to my pictures.
