Untitled Painting

This artwork is the beginning of a painting process whose main purpose was the visual representation of the unity of material, form and content in a gestural, abstract form. This early work belongs to the first series of the two-and-a-half year creative program, called „Variation for Space”. Space as a visual concept was my principle subject, but sometimes I created visionary landscapes, abstracted human faces too, and occasionally I used simple elements from my milieu as source of inspiration, just like in this case - the motive of a window. The program was an experiment in painting technique, while I used sand plaster as color inspired by the time-honored methods of sgraffito. Signed on the back, the Certificate of Authenticity is included.
