About The Artwork

I was inspired by suppression and the release of energy. A catharsis within a limited space. The raw, juicy squeezes of paint from cake decorating bags imply unfiltered libidinal energy and mass filing up the space within the confines of the frame. The marks protrude from the substrate and into the space of the viewer. They are sculptural. Space is not an illusion in these pieces, but real, literal. NOTE: A word about thick paint part to those not familiar with oil painting or my work: The oil paint is quite hard at this point (unless you poke it very hard) and definitely ready to ship. Expect the impasto paint to continue changing a little bit (usually some wrinkling) as the painting "ages." This is normal with thick oil paint, expected and intentional. This piece is visceral and about being in the moment, so I let the paint live on as it may after i'm finished laying it down. The paint should be totally "dry" in 1 year. The photos were taken 5+ months ago. Just putting this info here so there are no surprises. Any questions, please ask.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Catharsis, suppression, and the physical and visual properties of paint inspire me to paint. All my work is united by my love of the physical properties of paint and exploring it's possibilities. Recent work: paint is jabbed, thrown, squeezed from tubes or cake-decorating bags, squirted, smeared and scraped. Layers of paint run into, over and under each other in a literal and metaphorical battle of drives, forces, emotions and energies confined to the rectangular base like those taking place in and between our minds and bodies. I live in Chicago. Don't hesitate to follow me on my social media and message me about my next show ;).
