About The Artwork

I have stayed in the highlands of Scotland many times. I always make a set of sketchbook studies and then use them as the source material for studio paintings. One time, staying in Glen Clova, I decided to take the car and stop in each passing place on the narrow road that runs through the glen. At each spot I made a colour study and this bit of the road comes from one of those passing place studies. The artwork is painted using high quality acrylic paints. Colour is an important factor in my work and I always use premium paints. The painting is on a professionally made wooden panel, and is in a contemporary soft white painted wood frame. It is shipped in a sturdy cardboard box with multiple layers of packaging, most of which is recyclable. Thank you for looking.

www.chrissiehavers.com Represented by Cambridge Contemporary Art. The landscape is my main source of subject for painting - particularly the orderly impact on the landscape of human habitation and farming. The framework imposed by fencing hedges ditches etc and the impact these divisions have on the land is always interesting. Colours lent to the land for a few months by growing crops is another element. The rather harsh lemon of the rape or mustard crops, the cool blue of a linseed field, the effervescent mixture of echinacea flowers - all these colours provide problems for an artist. While they are very dramatic , visually they don’t sit well with the native trees and hedge colours, but I am drawn to them as a subject on exactly that account. This is what inspires my work - colour.
