Jorge Posada is a Colombian-born American painter, printmaker and sculptor. As a young artist he was the recipient of a prestigious price in his hometown Medellin, Colombia. Since the 1980's he lives and works in New York with a studio in the art community of Long Island City. He is an active board member of the non-profit LIC Artists and founder/curator of the yearly LIC Drawing Show. His work has been shown and collected all over the world, in particular in Europe, the USA and South America. Posada has developed a distinctive semi-figurative, semi-abstract style and creates series of paintings and drawings in mixed media on canvas and paper with the use of strong gestural brush and pencil strokes. Posada has always been inspired by the human experience addressing topics such as migration, exodus, the disappearance of people and the anonymous presence of the human being in the urban environment.
