"The pandemic was over and with Peter by her side, Valentina knew that anything was possible." Each one of my painting tells a story serving as a metaphorical fragment of my life, capturing moments from past, present or future and symbolising my personal evolution. Driven by a desire to bring positivity and joy to the viewer, I intentionally introduce playful elements and use vibrant colours. We can’t change most of the things in the crazy world we live in, but we can provide light, turn negative into positive. I share the stories with my collectors. Valentina Conchie is a figurative artist who works primarily in painting, photography, and collage. A self-taught artist, Valentina creates a vibrant fusion of contemporary visuals, blending elements of folklore, Neo-Primitivism, Naive, Psychedelic and Pop Art. She has developed a distinctive and recognisable visual language, characterised by her signature retrospective female portraits. Initially inspired by her interpretation of Kabuki masks, her central character evolved into a vivid heroine, journeying through various adventures and accompanied by allegorical creatures symbolising different phenomena, characters, or events. Many of Valentina’s works are given human names, adding a deeper narrative layer to her art. Each piece Valentina creates serves as a whimsical visual narrative—a metaphorical fable—where her personal experiences, impressions, and emotions intertwine with broader themes of nature, multiculturalism, equality, and social or political issues. These topics are explored in a playful yet meaningful way, often incorporating elements of satire. Inspired by ideals of positivity and transformation, Valentina brings vibrant energy to her work, inviting viewers to find joy and meaning, while embracing the belief that art has the power to transform negativity into light in an increasingly chaotic world. Originally from Moscow, Russia, Valentina has been based in Singapore for the past 10 years with her family, and has exhibited her works both locally and internationally.
