ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This work shows a couple entwined in a protective posture, with the woman holding the man's head in her hands as if she was trying to keep away some outside aggression symbolized by the red graffiti which seems to angrily enclose the two lovers. By looking carefully, one can notice traces of posters torn off on the arms and thighs of both character: along with the red graffiti this trace of violence gives its title to this artwork. This artwork is made using a mixed technique on canvas. It combines photography, digital art and acrylic painting (glazing and varnish looking a bit like lacquer and raised squares which seem to pop out of the canvas), it is a unique piece. The painting is framed in black (total dimensions are approx. 50 x 35 x 3,5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 80 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
