Very Soon I Think you'll Find Painting

This painting was created during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is an image of an imaginary woman, recollected through direct and indirect engagements. I have always loved to explore faces because of the complexity it features especially when we communicate. We communicate by looking at each other through the eyes and face. I wanted to approach the creative expression that involves the strategic arrangement of different elements, textures, or mediums to produce depth and complexity within a piece by sharing with you the depth and dimensions that delve beneath the surface as I reveal the multifaceted nature of the subject. This section explores how I use hidden details, and nuanced expressions to capture the complexity of the character. These lines will become a storytelling medium, revealing the life stories and experiences that shape each individual. I use various techniques to carve stories into the lines and contours of their subjects' faces, depicting the depth and complexity of human experience. I begin by sketching the face and using transparent sheets to outline the layers of light and shadow. After that, I color it with markers and scan it on the computer to separate the colors by varying the opacity, textures, and color of each layer. Then I print the artwork on canvas and repaint the whole work with acrylic and ink so the viewers can achieve a sense of depth and complexity that draws them deeper into the artwork. I'd like to share with everybody the understanding that each individual is a repository of stories, experiences, and emotions. Each portrait serves as a visual echo, resonating with the viewer and echoing aspects of our shared humanity. Whether through the intensity of the gaze, the fine lines etched into the face, the emotive use of color, or the layered symbolism beneath the surface, the artworks selected reflect the richness and diversity of character.
