Abstract painter and digital photographer born 1967. Sendyk studied at the National Art School in Sydney, Australia (1980s), later taking Psychology at the University of Southern Queensland (1990s). Fascinations of abstract subjectlessness, vastness, conscious evolution and existential transformation, Sendyk's works necessitate an open contemplative approach. Shift in perception and cognitive density is a keystone across the entire oeuvre. Sendyk evokes inspired curiosity by rendering an open "non-question" as a subjectless connective space. Observers are beckoned into a condition of observing themselves as observer. Paintings use holographic layering, complexes of application, minute brush work and light sensitive materials. Viewed in lit and non-lit settings, works reveal in darkness a moving light painting, as an aspect obscured by the obvious. Photographs are digitally manipulated and best mounted as 'existential light poetry'. Projected as kalidoscopic shift, photographs become atmospheric and existential space-scapes bridging inner and outer experience. Across all works Sendyk evokes inspired curiosity by rendering an open "non-question" as a subjectless existential space. Observers are beckoned into a condition of observing the observer, where inner experience becomes depthless. Paintings proceed in Series, with periods of testing and development overlapping. Works are made with minute attention to detail and multitude layering, often exhibited as variable lightwork installations. Series are: Text works 2003-10, Visual Koans 2003-2018, BWG 2015- and CSG 2019-. Technical development using metal, nanotechnology materials and inks developed by the artist's grandfather (an industrial chemist) nearly 100 years ago, manifest as visionary works unbounded by context or era. Selected as a finalist for the coveted Blake Prize, Australia (Director's Cut 2010, Finalist 2011, and Touring Finalist 2011-2012), Leonardo Prize Commendation (2015), shown at Italian Biennale (2015, 2017) published in art industry catalogues, public volumes and online, exhibited at international art events (Basel, Paris, Doha, New York, Miami, Tokyo, Sydney, Melbourne) and represented in Europe, the U.S, U.K and Australia, Sendyk's work has been collected in notable public, private and corporate collections.
