About The Artwork

The work, signed by the artist on the front and back of the work, is accompanied by the Certificate of Authenticity and Originality, signed by the artist and notarized. The work "Victory of Samothrace" was made by the artist for her series of works entitled "Divas", which shows not only beauty, but also the power and strength of women in all fields of life, above all, their strength spiritual and mystical to transform the world. In this work, the artist alludes to the majesty and victory in a woman's life, through her empowerment and the sacred feminine, using the important statue "Victory of Samothrace" (today in the Louvre Museum). Victory of Samothrace is a famous sculpture from antiquity, which was created around 190 BC and is 3.28 meters tall. The dating is uncertain, but the work has many features attributed to the Hellenistic period. Some of the characteristics of this period include dramatic, theatrical and emotional art. Carved in white marble from Paros, the work depicting the form of a winged woman is at the same time intriguing, perhaps because the sculpture lacks the key pieces. (head and arms) thus causing a sense of mystery. The movement of both wings and the dress billowing in the wind give the work an inspiring element. It is believed that this statue represented a figure on the bow of a warship to commemorate the victory of a naval battle. Therefore, Victoria is the goddess of victories. In 1864, it was acquired by the Museum of the Louvre, this beautiful sculpture is in a prominent place on a staircase in the Museum, which provides a perfect point of view to view it. It is positioned outside the Grand Gallery, which houses all of the Italian Renaissance paintings. The visitor's view of the work as they climb the stairs only adds to the majestic feeling of the work.
