I am inspired to paint by my environment, mostly nature. The first wattle blossoms of 2020 have arrived. Wattle trees feature beautiful yellow blossoms, and tell us that spring is not far away. They are such happy looking flowers. Australia has 1000 species of wattle and Australia's national floral emblem is Acacia pycnantha, the Golden Wattle. Many parts of the wattle tree are used by Australia’s indigenous population. The seeds are ground and made into damper. The bark and leaves provide medicines, and the wood can be used to make weapons. September 1st was Wattle Day in Australia – the first day of Spring. In the bottom left hand corner you can see a few little dots. These are tiny wattle leaves and blossoms which fell onto the canvas when it was placed outside. I thought they looked wonderful, and decided to leave them there. However, they will soon fall off.

AUSTRALIAN ARTIST I am an Australian artist working in Adelaide, South Australia. I paint mostly in oil, but occasionally use acrylic paints. Landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, flower paintings and abstract paintings are included in my repertoire of work. INSPIRATION FOR MY ART As an Australian artist, my inspiration comes from whatever is around me at a particular time. As an example, following a recent trip to the mid north of South Australia, I produced a series of landscape paintings, which include the beautiful Eucalyptus trees and flowers from local gardens. HISTORY My original study was textile design and Adelaide's School of Art and Craft. I then worked for 20 years in various forms of art and fashion. But, in 1997 I followed my other passion, natural health. Since arriving back in Adelaide from Sydney in 1999 I have worked full time as a Naturopath. However, in recent years I have devoted much more time to my painting. Moving full circle, as a practicing Australian artist. This includes participating in exhibitions. Also fulfilling my love of learning by continuing to study and improve my art practice, wherever and whenever I can. Over this period I have attended many and varied art courses and workshops in this time including Peter Bok at Bapea Art School, Liana Vargas Cat Leonard, and Krystina at Splashout Studio, Chelsea Lehman, Trena Everuss and Nona Burden at Adelaide Central School, John Lacey, Ruby Chew, Sophie Hann, Gerhard Ritter, and Deborah Trusson. WHERE ELSE TO FIND ME I regularly post to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
