Alison has lived in North Wales since 2004. Inspired by her surroundings, she soon began painting and within two years had exhibited at a number of galleries including the Royal Cambrian Academy. Alison works with her partner Jon Davies who takes care of digital printing, picture framing, marketing, and business management. Alison's subjects include Snowdonia & North Wales, The Lake District & Cumbria, Rural Life, Equestrian & Racing, The Coast, and Chester. Alison Bradley Gallery opened in 2008 in Betws-y-coed - the gateway to Snowdonia and home of Britain’s first Artists’ Colony from 1844 to 1914. In 2016 Alison and Jon expanded their business, opening a second gallery in the heart of historic Chester City Centre. Both galleries are tranquil and relaxing spaces where customers are always made to feel welcome and never pressured. A constantly changing display of Alison's original work is exhibited along with a comprehensive range of reproduction prints. Jon offers a framing service with a choice of over 200 mouldings and specialising in oak frames, some exclusive to Alison Bradley Gallery. Alison predominantly paints in oil on canvas or board. She enjoys sketching from life using oil paint in a direct technique, and combines these with reference photographs and memories about the scene into a larger piece in the studio, sometimes building several layers of paint over days or weeks. She also regularly draws with charcoal as the medium lends itself to expressing atmosphere.
