Warm Winter Painting

It was inspired by a window at my mother’s room.This room has always been distinguished by warm and welcoming atmosphere. It intends to juxtapose the interior versus the exterior of the outside world. Here I explored themes of contrast. In particular, I used complementary colors blue and orange, green and red, purple and yellow as well as high and low values respectively corresponding to exterior and interior of this painting, to underline the themes of exterior vs interior and its contrast. One of my aims was also to show coziness of an interior. I also used areal perspective to help determine location of objects. In doing so, I used a variety of materials: a wide range of brushes and a palette knife. The letter creates impasto at the front arm of an armchair and helps once again emphasize perspective and create texture.
