This is the third and final painting of a four piece set of Claude Monet studies Art Lee painted in 2010. Monet is one of Art Lee’s favorite painters and has taken every opportunity throughout his career to practice this style. While in college Lee had one semester in master studies so he choose Claude Monet and was able to work a numbers of drawings and paintings in the style of the late master. At present, Lee is working on another set of four Monet's paintings in the 20 inch range, all done with palette knife. Release date in spring 2018. On May 6, 2014 a Monet Water Lilies painting sold for 27 million at Christies New york. Notably, 100 years ago Claude was painting Water Lilies. Art Lee’s version of water lilies gives the viewer a sense of age but is of course only 8 years old. Lee’s soft handed use of the paint brush for much of the water and a subtle impasto brush stroke on the flowers were very similar to Claude’s style a century ago. The colors in this painting vary greatly but remain in a narrow palette for the realistic element. When looking at this classically impressionistic painting one finds a sense of calm and quite. You feel as if you are in a dream sitting on the banks under the most amazing evening light. It seems you can hear the intricate colors bursting thru this piece. It is a fairly large piece which greatly adds to its statement on a wall. From a distance, this painting has realism qualities which is the goal with all impressionism paintings. Stretched canvas over wood and has a hanging wire on the back. Not framed. #ClauseMonet #Monet #Waterlilies #ArtLee #LeeBivens #French #Impressionism
