About The Artwork

If you have been following my waves, you will notice that I skipped 5-9. Those turned out to be more studies -- sketch book stuff to gain a better understanding -- though I catalogued them. No. 10 is a bonafide ripple!

Wave Interference watercolor paintings: Wave Interference occurs when two or more waves occupy the same place and time. Waves are created by energy. Energy is constantly in motion. As waves pass through each another, patterns momentarily appear and disappear. Wave Interference paintings freeze the pattern to document a specific moment. The fixed image offers extended time to contemplate the fleeting patterns created as waves pass through each other. The time and date documented in the lower left corner record when a wave interference painting is begun and completed. Waves collide in a vastly different time frame than when paint meets paper. Painting requires slowly building up layers of paint to create a static image. The patterns created by wave interference are transient and ephemeral.
