ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This work evokes the idea of a Wave Rhythm, with contrasts of colour and mark used to draw the eye across the surface of the painting to create an impression of movement and rhythm. Simplified wind, rain and wave symbols have been used to suggest the component parts of wave movement, which have then been improvised into with mixed-media.

I use abstraction to interpret landscapes and environments, often using a range of mediums to produce dynamic, layered paintings which hold within them a sense of rhythm and flow. I am inspired by art’s potential to express ideas, atmosphere and emotion. I am interested in creating compositional balance by exploring contrasts of colour, form and texture, and enjoy developing and exploring new techniques and materials in my work.
