About The Artwork

In this abstract landscape painting, textural turquoise and white waves are rolling into shore. All is in contrast with the orange land below, and highlighted by the tainted yellow sky above. The elements of nature. Joy, peace, freedom...all what can be opened to when opening to nature.

“I love opening to the expansive creative energy of the unknown and have a painting evolve from this space. Such joy and peace is revealed. I have discovered that this space of who we are naturally draws people to my paintings. It is our life energy and is present in every human being, animal, tree, flower, blade of grass, and all of existence. Painting is a medium I love to use where I am able to open to something that is much greater than “me and my life”. It is something that the mind cannot grasp and understand but it is known to us as we are this space. Other words to point to who we are, awareness, love, peace, freedom. We are the awareness that notices everything and is in all life forms. To recognise our true self is to recognise what is beyond all these words and cannot be described. Everything else that comes and goes, like thoughts, emotions, life situations, blissful moments, are only part of the play, the dance of creation. I love opening to truth and I’m thankful when I have created an artwork from this space and it is received by another.” Yvette Swan was born in Australia and currently lives in Sydney. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from University of NSW, Collage of Fine Arts. She has previously worked in the film and photographic industries and then came back full circle to her love of painting. She has had over 40 solo and group exhibitions in Australia, including the Wynne Landscape Prize at AGNSW, Metro Prize, Fleurieu Peninsula Biennale Prize, and the Art Series Leeuwin Estate Collection. Yvette is included in the book “Unfinished Journeys” by Ken McGregor. Her paintings belong to private and public collections. In 2018 Yvette exhibited works in the Spectrum-Red Dot Miami Art Fair. In 2019 she was the Featured Artist in Home Design magazine, issue April/May; and her work was also featured in the Swiss Art Expo. Yvette will be exhibiting in The Other Art Fair Sydney in 2021 and with the Affordable Art Fair artist collective in 2022. Yvette’s current paintings have come from a deeper awareness of who we are beyond the human condition. They reflect our true nature as the freedom of being. The world, personalities, emotions, thoughts, stories, body, situations, and all of the content are only passing energies. They come and they go. But what is always here which never comes and goes and is aware of all this passing content? It is our essential nature. It is the source of our being.
