Painting, Watercolor on Wood
Size: 10 W x 8 H x 0.1 D in
I work in a converted attic. Sometimes I think I am the ghost living in the attic of my 1900 house. I like drawing with watercolor brushes. I like seeing how a piece shows me what I'm thinking about. I work through fear. As an artist with bipolar disorder, I struggle with anxiety. The last thing I do is title the piece. That's when I know it's done.

I am a watercolorist working out of Buffalo, NY. I studied art at Hobart and William Smith College, but do not have a formal art degree. I consider myself a beginner, although I have been making various forms of art for a long time. I am most interested in the intersection of visual and written story. I like to paint characters who respond to one another through their body language and the choices of color. Watercolor holds a certain magic to it when I drop a bit of color onto the page and an explosion happens. I love the texture that a droplet of inky water brings. Traditionally, watercolor is a medium where you are supposed to work light from dark, but I often overlay lights over darks to see the effect.
