Born and settled in Madrid, she graduated in 2014 in Plastic Arts in the Pan-American School of Art and Design of Sao Paulo (Brazil). Always passionate about painting, she use to combine her usual work in private companies with the self-taught practice of painting. However, it was not until the year 2005 when during her first stay in Brazil, she had the opportunity to face the creation with acrylic paintings in the workshop of a Brasilian artist, as well as in the Museum of Sculpture of Sao Paulo. From that moment she has not stopped learning and looking for new ways of expressing through the painting. The creation with the heart would be the most accurate definition of Mercedes’ work. Needing to harmonize with nature, balance, peace is the reason for her search and dialogue with materials. The topics always related to the nature flows through Mercedes's work, capturing moments of tranquility, absence of noise or dialogs between the different natural elements. The water with his transparency enters and goes out as an indispensable ingredient in the composition, raising a constant dialog between the different materials. Everything starts with her memories. Intimate moments and poetic thoughts accompany the intuitive interpretation of what she perceives through all the senses. Mercedes' work captures the delicate vision of organic forms, stillness and presences, guiding us through her strokes to feel the temperature of the landscape.
