ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This painting, "What doesn't kill us...," quietly speaks of life's hardships and the beauty that emerges from its depths. The thorn-covered armor, seemingly encasing flesh and soul, marks the painful path through which we learn to survive. At its core, the delicate daisy blooming stands as a symbol of the indomitable light that blossoms even beneath suffering. It is from such adversity that our inner strength and freedom are born, pushing us to keep moving forward each time.

My name is Michael Makharadze. I was born in July 12, 1994. In 2012 graduated from St. Tbel Abuserisdze Gymnasium. In 2012-2018 I studied philosophy at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. "I create art that serves as a bridge between the material and symbolic worlds. Each piece is a conceptual reflection of this journey. I strive to capture and make visible the threads that connect us to one another." The main theme of my work is humanity and everything related to it. Humanity is the highest value; it gives meaning and significance to existence. In my art, I explore the world through symbols, which reveal an inexhaustible space of content and emotions. Each painting carries its own message, yet they are united by the process of searching for truth, interacting with the essence of things, and contemplating the significance of human existence. The perception of the world through the eyes of a finite observer, against the backdrop of cosmic infinity, and the mythological aestheticization of the unknown are present in almost every piece. Particular attention is given to the problem of absurdity and existence, often connected with existential philosophy. The figures depicted in the works are frequently hyperbolized or exaggerated. Compositionally, they are arranged as if we are observing a monumental scene frozen in time and space. The imagined world is unified, representing a whole, and creating a sense of parallel reality, with each painting intertwined with symbolic imagery. Depending on the context, the paintings create their own meaning through associations, weaving together individual stories that are also connected to other works.
