About The Artwork
The Whitsundays are 74 tropical islands located in the Great Barrier reef north of Australia. They are an explosion of glorious colour and texture. I embrace the possibilities of a landscape by painting mini landscapes measuring 5cm square. Each little square is reverse painted on glass squares, allowing for reflection and depth when montaged face up. I create an impression of the Whitsundays from all the smaller 'landscapes'. The glass is adhered to a wooden mount, ready to hang and will sit 5.5cm off the wall. Please note this is a DIPTYCH - the two artworks are designed to hang side by side. The gap between the two pieces are artwork can be anything to create the right balance for where you are hanging it. The total dimensions listed allows for the art to hang without a gap. I paint, I create and make things that make me happy. Sounds simple enough... but maybe that's what it should be. I was born in Ireland, grew up in Zimbabwe and have lived in the UK,USA and Australia. Meeting new people and exploring where I live inspires much of my work. I create in a medium appropriate to the inspiration. My artwork finds expression in oils, acrylics, charcoal, mixed media and glass. I use print making, stenciling, texture, fabric and transfers to create multi-layered tactile pieces. You will find my unique artwork in offices, hotels, homes, bars and restaurants in Australia, Europe, USA, Canada, China, Singapore and Southern Africa. I have 14 years of experience consulting on various international projects where the work was created to specification as the majority of the projects required custom made artwork. I understand how to evaluate and select materials that align with aesthetics, compliance and individual needs. I am very comfortable with collaborating on a brief and love the cross pollination of ideas that result from co-designing art work.
